Partnership between ABSOLAR and BSW will contribute towards the sustainable energy transition in Brazil and Germany

Berlin (agrar-PR) - Improved strategic agreement between the entities will strengthen the development of solar photovoltaic, energy storage, and green hydrogen markets in both countries, promoting new investments and business opportunities
The Brazilian Solar Photovoltaic Energy Association (ABSOLAR) has recently signed a partnership agreement with German Solar Association (BSW), the leading entity representing the solar energy and energy storage sectors in Germany, with the purpose of strengthening international collaboration between the solar sectors of the two countries, in order to promote the development, growth and use of photovoltaic solar energy and synergistic technologies (including energy storage, green hydrogen, microgrids, minigrids, digitalization, and others) in the fight against climate change.

The agreement, signed during Intersolar Europe, the largest European solar exhibition and conference, held in Munich, Germany, in June, updates a long-lasting collaboration between ABSOLAR and BSW, initially structured eight years earlier, in 2015. With a broadened scope of activities and the inclusion of new technologies as part of the cooperation, the two organizations will work together to accelerate the development of solar energy, energy storage, and green hydrogen markets in both countries. The partnership will also look into opportunities for Brazilian and German companies in electric vehicles, digitalization, and the use of renewable energy as baseload power for a cleaner electricity supply. In addition to sharing experiences and best practices in public policies, programs, and incentives, the associations will collaborate in the areas of technological exchange and trade, to catalyze new investments, generating jobs and income and creating business opportunities in both countries.

For ABSOLAR, Germany is a historical pioneer and a global reference in the development of public policies for solar energy and energy storage in homes, businesses, rural producers, and public buildings. The Germans also stand out as one of the main countries promoting new industrial policies, as well as in the development of the green hydrogen economy, as an alternative to greenhouse gas and pollution-emitting fossil fuels.

“The renewal of our historical bilateral cooperation with BSW is a solid step towards the sustainable energy transition, catalyzing the attraction of new international investments and the generation of quality jobs. This agreement further strengthens the relations between our two entities and between the Brazilian and German solar energy, energy storage, and green hydrogen markets. It will contribute to new opportunities for both markets, providing win-win growth in favor of social, economic and environmental development in both countries”, celebrates Rodrigo Sauaia, CEO of ABSOLAR.

“With solar energy, we can, in a short time, make the Brazilian electricity matrix even cleaner, more renewable and accessible to all segments of the population”, comments Ronaldo Koloszuk, president of the Board of Administrators of ABSOLAR, who was part of the Brazilian delegation to Munich. “Therefore, accelerating the energy transition through renewable technologies is one of the most effective measures to help the country's reindustrialization”, he adds.

David Wedepohl, Managing Director International Affairs of the German Solar Association (BSW) seconds: "The prospects of further cooperation are sunny indeed – we have learned a lot from our Brazilian partners in the past. The pandemic lead to a temporary lull in our work, but we will go full throttle again soon – two of the places to experience that will be Intersolar South America at the end of August and the upcoming 10th anniversary of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue in Berlin in March 2024."

About ABSOLAR
The Brazilian Solar Photovoltaic Energy Association (in Portuguese, Associação Brasileira de Energia Solar Fotovoltaica), in short ABSOLAR, is a private non-for-profit organization, founded in November 2013, that gathers companies and professionals from the whole solar photovoltaic (PV) value chain with operations in Brazil. ABSOLAR coordinates, represents, and defends the interests of its associate members regarding the development of solar PV and synergic technologies (including energy storage, green hydrogen, microgrids, minigrids, baseload generation of renewable electricity and others) in Brazil, promoting their use in the country. Additionally, ABSOLAR represents the Brazilian solar PV sector and market internationally and cooperates with representatives from foreign institutions, associations, governments and multilateral organizations.
